Professional Philosophy:
I believe that each of us has the God-given desire to be the very best that she or he can be. My focus is to guide and nurture that desire and to offer powerful tools to each individual who wants and needs to believe that light can triumph over darkness. With such a belief comes hope, and with hope comes the power to choose to become a healthy individual rather than a broken one.
There is a poem by a woman named Marianne Williamson that states what I feel beautifully:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
The above words by Marianne Williamson have always had special meaning for me. As a counselor in private practice, I see people every day who are crippled by fear and who feel an emptiness that nothing can fill. They think they come for answers, but I believe they come for hope… for an opportunity to connect with the best parts of themselves and their dreams.
